Keep in mind also that the original Volkswagen GTI parts will cost you more than a replacement part, but if you want to keep your little compact all original, by all means, go ahead and spend the extra money because original parts are worth it in the long run.

Buying Volkswagen GTI Parts Through a Parts Catalog
Catalogs offer a wider selection than the majority of the local stores, especially for performance parts. If you are knowledgeable of the parts that you need, you should be able to determine if you are paying the right price from the catalog, including the cost of taxes, shipping and handling to the final price.

If you are in need of a simple repair like brakes, for example, your Volkswagen GTI parts will probably be in stock at the Volkswagen dealer, as well as original parts like belts, hoses and so on. You will find more of what you need by shopping online. Be careful that you don't end up with a 'replacement' part, though. Make sure you specify that you want your parts to be original when you order or do any research.

Buying Volkswagen GTI Parts in a Local Store
The biggest advantage of buying your performance parts in a local store is the ability to walk in and walk back out with the item, however that is also one of the biggest disadvantages: local stores often have a limit to the items that they have on hand but can sometimes order these parts if you ask. There may be a fee for doing this, but if you have established yourself as a good customer, it will be waived.
Another local option for some performance parts is with salvage stores which can allow you to pay a much lower price, however be cautioned these are not new parts and may not be readily available or in perfect condition.

The latest addition from the German tuner Prior-Design is the new body kit for the Vw Scirocco. Although the car didn’t reach yet the U.S. market, although Vw assures us it will, we can still get a preview of the tuning programs for the stylish coupe.
The new kit includes a re-designed front bumper, new side sills, a new rear roof spoiler, a new rear bumper with integrated air diffuser as well as a new exhaust system. The new kit is completed by the new multi-spoke alloy wheels painted in black in order to give the vehicle a new look.

Since the debut of the first and the discontinuation of the fifth generation, more than 1.7 million buyers made the GTI to the world’s bestseller. Now the new GTI is at the ready: at the Paris Motor Show (4th to 19th October 2008) Volkswagen will be demonstrating the design study of the new Golf GTI at its world premiere.
The GTI suspension with a new electronic limited-slip diff (XDS) defines curves and traction in a completely new way. A GTI with a top speed of 240 km/h that with its 155 kW / 210 bhp strong turbocharged engine is even more fun and, on average, only uses 7.5 litres.
The sixth generation Golf GTI will go into series production in the spring of 2009 – as usual with a unique connection between sporty suspension and agile engine. The engine develops already at 1,800 rpm a maximum torque of 280 newton metres. The sprint from 0 to 60mph is achieved in 6.9 seconds. A stand-off between wind resistance and output occurs only just at 240 km/h.
Lowered by 22 millimetres and equipped with a new sports suspension, the springs, shock absorbers and rear anti-roll bars of the design study have been completely reworked. Furthermore, the optional adaptive chassis control DCC feature will also be available for the future GTI.
"We wanted a purposefully clear GTI design. A car that has power but also style," summarises the Volkswagen AG's chief designer Walter de’Silva. The design study of the sixth generation presented in Paris blends in both style elements of the GTI icons. Details like the typical honeycombed radiator grill and the V-shaped bonnet, stretching over the head lights, contribute to the GTI V. The clean and horizontal structure clearly originates from the GTI I. Because of the styling as well as the underlining horizontal graphic of the front section the Golf GTI design study appears visually wider (1.78 meter), lower (1.47 meter) and more dynamic than any other car in its class.

ABT, is one of the first tuners to get their hands on the new VW Scirocco, which has already begun to sell in European dealerships. This German tuner has made an aggressive looking bodykit for VW’s sport coupe that includes a new front bumper with a lip spoiler, side skirts with air inlets, a larger roof spooler, a rear skirt that incorporates a diagonally attached set of four tail pipes and a boot wing. For just a little more they have also added the feature of the option of 18" or 20" alloy rims.
The suspension brings the car 30 mm closer to the ground. This package will be available in Germany on January at the price of €5,990 or $8,300 USD.
For recreational purpose customers can also upgrade the engine's performance with ABT’s engine kits which raise the 1.4-liter TSI’s output from 160 to 200HP, the 2.0 TSI’s from 200 to 240HP and the 2.0 TDI’s from 140 to 170HP. The engine modifications can be combined with a set of larger and better disk brakes.

After many speculations and rumors, VW finally lifted the wraps of its forthcoming 1-tonne pickup truck in the form of a pre-production model simply called ‘Pickup’ at the International Automobile Exhibition in Hanover (September 26 to October 02). The concept gives us a taste of the production model that we’ve become accustomed to knowing it as Robust. Production of the new Pickup will begin in fall 2009 at Volkswagen’s “Pacheco” plant in Argentina. According to VW, the production model will be initially introduced at the end of 2009 to South America, South Africa, Australia and Europe with other markets following shortly after.

VW Scirocco
For some reason, the Volkswagen Scirocco hasn't really blipped on my radar.
It's just one of those cars that's sort of passed me by - despite all the hype and nostalgic musings it's generated.
Maybe that's because the Iroc concept looked so brilliant, only for VW to lose their guts and dilute it into a softer, less edgy-looking production version.
Such gutlessness caused me to lose interest. What happened to that pointy, aggressive front-end? I wanted it back.
But, sat there in the BBC's secret underground layer (just off the A40 at White City), it looked bloody brilliant.
Pictures don't do this thing justice. In white, it looks properly cool, and the wheels are unlike anything on other 'normal' cars - they're more like the turbine-style jobs you get on an SLR.
And underneath all that, it's a Golf GTI. There are worse things to have as an alter-ego...
So it's quick. And stylish. Quick, stylish and utterly appealing. I want one.
Driving around west London, it got tonnes of attention. Maybe that's 'cos it's new, but the constant flicker of 'thumbs up' from pedestrians, cabbies and truckers would suggest people really like the look of it.
The only let down is the interior - it's boring. OK so I like the ribbed leather seats, and they're the only nod to the Scirocco of old.
But the rest of it is dull, and a bit safe in a very VW sort of way. The Iroc had all sorts of sculpted surfaces, bright splashes of colour and even a racing harness. Where's all that gone?
Probably in the same dustbin as the original front-end. So if you're planning on buying a Scirocco (which you should), my advice is to go find that bin, fish out the parts and graft them back on.

Lovers of both fuel mileage and torque can finally rest easy, Volkswagen of America is now officially selling its 50-State-approved, clean diesel engine in either the Jetta sedan for $21,990 or Jetta SportWagen wrappers for $23,590. Equipped with the six-speed DSG transmission, both Jetta gets an EPA rating of 29 miles per gallon in the city and 40 on the highway. We expect to see better real-world numbers, though we're a bit wary of VW's advertising its alternate rating of 38/44 -- a number that is impossible to compare with anything else currently available. In any case, the $2,000 premium for the TDI engine will be lessened somewhat by the Fed's $1,300 tax credit which applies to either TDI model. Look for an early test of the oil-burner on these pages shortly.

Porsche has developed a special Aerokit for the 911 Turbo Coupé. It includes a front spoiler lip and an entirely new engine cover design with fixed aerofoil.
The characteristic front lip and the distinctive rear spoiler lend the typical turbo silhouette an even more dynamic appearance. The Porsche development center engineers in Weissach attached the greatest possible importance to aerodynamic functionality. The most important objective among the components refined in the wind tunnel was to improve the handling characteristics, given an unchanged drag coefficient of 0.31 compared with the production version.

The Porsche development center engineers in Weissach attached the greatest possible importance to aerodynamic functionality. The most important objective among the components refined in the wind tunnel was to improve the handling characteristics, given an unchanged drag coefficient of 0.31 compared with the production version.
This ensures that the Aerokit’s optimized streamlining blends ideally with the 490 PS high performance Coupé’s harmonious overall design and enabled further reductions of the lift coefficients on the front and rear axles. This ensures an even more stable drive at high speed. The aerodynamically coordinated front and rear components may only be fitted together. Compared with the standard 900 Turbo, the door sill trim and the rear skirt are painted in body color as well as the Aerokit’s add-on parts.
The Aerokit costs 4,500 euros (excluding VAT) when ordered at the same time as purchasing a new vehicle from Porsche Exclusive in Germany. If the parts are retrofitted, they can be purchased from Porsche Tequipment at a cost of 4,100 euros (excluding painting and assembly as well as VAT). The Aerokit is available with immediate effect worldwide.
