While the engine is still a 2.5L, 170hp, H4, the new model's horsepower is 170 @ 5600 RPM, while the 2009 model was 170 @ 6000 rpm. The torque is also similar but now measures at 170 @ 4000 RPM, while last year it hit 170 @ 4400 RPM. This has resulted in the 2010 Outback 2.5i getting an estimated 22mpg city and 29mpg highway, which bests last year's model that was estimated at 20 and 26 respectively.
